A whole-home CastleGuard water softener removes unwanted and destructive hardness minerals, primarily calcium and magnesium, from your water through a process called “ion-exchange.” The result is water with a true “soft” feel that not only feels good to the family, but also provides many benefits to the home itself. Appliances and water-based fixtures are better protected; plumbing lines are protected; the lifespan of appliances and water heaters is extended; glass enclosures and glass wear are cleaner without spotting; soaps and detergents perform better; and cleaning the home becomes easier and more efficient.
The CastleGuard Eco-Smart Water Softener is not only a highly effective softener, but due to its metered technology, it is very efficient. This results in less maintenance and operational cost, without sacrificing quality results. The Softener can be easily controlled or settings changed using the manual features on the control valve or the Legacy View app via Bluetooth access.
Softened water reduces the hardness minerals that can leave skin and hair feeling dry or coated, helping showers feel smoother and more comfortable.
With fewer hardness minerals interfering with soaps and detergents, fabrics can rinse more cleanly and feel softer after washing.
Soft water allows soaps, shampoos, and detergents to lather more effectively, which can help reduce the amount needed for everyday cleaning.
Removing hardness minerals helps reduce the mineral residue and spotting commonly left on shower doors, faucets, dishes, and other surfaces.
Reducing scale buildup can help protect water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines, fixtures, and plumbing from the damaging effects of hard water.
The Bluetooth-enabled control valve pairs with the Legacy View app so you can monitor water usage and manage regeneration settings from your smartphone.
Incoming household water flows into the mineral tank and through the ion-exchange resin.
10% premium-grade crosslinked cation resin captures hardness minerals. The cation resin attracts calcium and magnesium, the primary minerals responsible for hard water.
Sodium ions are exchanged. As hardness minerals are captured, sodium ions are released from the resin into the water.
The system backwashes our contaminants and regenerates automatically. The metered control valves regulates when backwashing and regeneration is necessary based on an internal computation of hardness removed to gallons used, making the systems extremely efficient.
Salt brine restores sodium ions to the resin while captured calcium and magnesium are flushed to the drain, preparing the system for another service cycle.
Water leaving the tank has significantly reduced hardness minerals, helping limit scale, spotting, and hard-water buildup and softened water flows through the home.

Designed to regenerate based on system settings and household water demand while helping minimize unnecessary salt, water, and energy use.
Ion exchange removes calcium and magnesium from the water rather than simply conditioning them.
Removing hardness minerals helps limit scale buildup and hard-water spotting on fixtures, dishes, and glass.
Softened water can help skin and hair feel smoother by reducing exposure to hardness minerals during bathing.
Soft water helps detergents work more efficiently, supporting softer fabrics and brighter-looking colors.
Reducing scale can help protect water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines, faucets, showerheads, and household plumbing.
Legacy View connectivity gives homeowners access to system settings and water-use information from a smartphone.
The supplied product copy identifies the system as made in the USA.
Add water-softener salt to the brine tank as needed. Salt consumption varies by hardness level, household water use, capacity settings, and regeneration frequency. We recommend water softener salt pellets or crystals designed for water softener systems. This salt is generally available at any major hardware or grocery store retailer, and commonly sold in 25- or 40-pound bags. Instead of the common water softener salt, potassium chloride may also be used.
The premium 10% Crosslink Resin in your CastleGuard Water Softener will have a performance life expectancy of 15-20 years, or longer, and it is replaceable within the tank itself. Ultimately, water characteristics and water usage rates will cause life expectancy to vary. For city water, the use of a carbon-based whole house filter installed prior to the softener to reduce chlorine / chloramines will provide an overall better water quality and significantly improve the longevity of the softener resin.
The CastleGuard Eco-Smart Water Softener uses ion-exchange technology to remove calcium and magnesium, the minerals responsible for hard water. This helps soap and shampoo lather and rinse more effectively, leaving skin and hair feeling smoother while reducing spotting on dishes, glass, faucets, and other surfaces.
Removing hardness minerals helps reduce scale buildup in plumbing, water heaters, faucets, showerheads, dishwashers, and washing machines, supporting appliance efficiency and longevity. Softened water also allows detergents to work more effectively, helping clothes rinse cleaner and potentially reducing the amount of detergent needed.
A true salt-based water softener removes calcium and magnesium hardness minerals that cause scale and spotting throughout the home. Reducing those minerals before they reach your fixtures can help keep showerheads, faucets, sinks, and glass surfaces cleaner with less crusty buildup.
It removes hardness minerals, primarily calcium and magnesium, through ion exchange.
Yes. A salt-based softener actually removes hardness minerals. A salt-free conditioner changes how the minerals
behave but generally leaves the hardness reading unchanged.
Yes. Many homeowners notice that soap lathers more easily and the water feels smoother because hardness
minerals have been removed.
Softened water can help soaps and shampoos rinse more cleanly and may leave skin and hair feeling smoother
and less coated.
Potentially. Soft water allows soaps and detergents to work more efficiently. The amount saved depends on your
original hardness level, cleaning products, and wash conditions.
Yes. Reducing hardness minerals helps limit scale formation inside water heaters, dishwashers, washing
machines, fixtures, and plumbing.
Regeneration frequency depends on water hardness, household usage, resin capacity, and programming. The
supplied explanation notes that an average cycle can be around two weeks in some homes, but this is not a fixed
schedule.
Yes. Salt in the brine tank is used to recharge the ion-exchange resin during regeneration.
Yes. The supplied product data says the smart valve pairs with the Legacy View app via Bluetooth for monitoring
and programmable settings.
A carbon filter may be recommended when chlorine or chloramine is present. Carbon filtration can improve taste
and odor and help protect softener resin from oxidant exposure.
Possibly. A softener removes hardness minerals but does not address every dissolved drinking-water contaminant.
Potential savings may come from reduced scale, improved appliance efficiency, and lower soap and detergent
usage. Actual savings vary by water hardness, household use, and equipment.
